Our Facilities - TimberRidge Sporthorses

About Us & TimberRidge

Patricia Neilson

TimberRidge Sporthorses is owned and operated by Colin and Trish Neilson.

We are both University of Guelph Animal Science grads establishing ourselves in the Rainy River District in 1984. Colin was born and raised in the Rainy River District.

We are committed to providing a place where warmblood sport horses can grow without being hurried in a very natural environment.  This allows them the time and space to physically and mentally mature. This environment is a fundamental building block for developing willing equine partners with sound bodies and minds that enable long and sustainable athletic careers.

I have been riding horses for over forty years. I enjoy a wide range of horse disciplines however with a young family helping out at the barn I understand the importance of horses that are athletic but trustworthy with the entire family. I believe each horse is an individual and I am prepared to provide the time and energy to encourage the horse to build on its natural abilities and to strengthen its natural weakness. I am pictured above with brood mare Red Rosalyn.

Sport horses are only one enterprise on our mixed farm and forestry operation. Colin has developed the multipurpose facility enabling horses, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats and two active boys to live in harmony (most days anyways). Yes, a TimberRidge Sport horse will have daily exposure to all the farm animals, equipment, and family activities (just one of the many fundamental building blocks of a solid foundation).
